Welcome to my web site, my name is Fred and my QTH is Durban, South Africa.(KG50LB)

I have just migrated this site from dxcc.com and decided to start up the counter from scratch.

I have been a Radio Ham since 1994 and think it's one of the greatest hobbies around.
I work all bands from 160m to 70cm all mode. I also enjoy Sattelite coms and most of the Digital modes including Packet, Pactor, and the WSJT suite.
My favourite band is 6m although I also enjoy 10, 15 and 20m. DX'ing

As for QSL'ing - I will always respond to a QSL request. I also use e'QSL and the ARRL Callbook of the world although it will not replace me QSL'ing you via the Buro or Direct.
You are welcome to QSL via Buro as, although slow, it is the most cost effective way to go. Should you however wish to QSL direct my details are P.O.Box 53028, Yellow wood Park, 4011, Durban, South Africa

I am married and have three daughters all of whome have taken an interest in one or more of my hobbies "poor mom! Amateur radio is one of my favorite hobbies as it covers four of my interests namely computers (soft & hardware), homebrew, astronomy and satellites. "Although I am keen on all aspects of Amateur Radio my greatest interest are DX'ing on the 50Mhz and HF bands, Satellite and Digital Coms and I will therefore focus on those aspects of the hobby. Other interests are archeology and geology and ancient history, but unfortunately my knowledge is rather limited there.

Due to my terminal weakness for motorcycles and Rotary powered sports cars I have decided to have a page dedicated to them as well. I have a Suziki GSX-F Slingshot which is my toy for getting away from it all and a Mazda RX-7 (with 13B Bridgeported Rotary Engine), which is darn fast, but has a fuel consumption that would make any oil baron smile. Great for getting to swap meets or boot sales in a hurry though !

There are many great Amateur Radio sites out there and I will try to keep you informed of new ones as I discover them. PLEASE take a look at the eQSL site whose banner is displayed at the foot of this page - This is a great alternative to Snail Mail QSL cards and cuts down on mail costs, losses and delays.
For now I will leave you with some links to some interesting Amateur Radio related sites as well as some neat Freeware sites.
